Point Arkwright
Another early rise for a drive up the coast this Saturday to Point Arkwright (Just below Coolum Beach). Another fantastic area, I definitely have to spend a weekend up around this area.
On a side note I am going to start to make prints available for my photos. Stay tuned
If anyone has any suggestions as to which photos should definitely be in print let me know
Hastings Point
Made my way down to Hastings Point just inside the New South Wales border on Saturday.
Was a long morning, I left at 4am for an hour and a half drive, I didn’t get back till lunch time. Having said that I really like it down around Fingal Heads, Kingscliff, and Hastings Point. I plan to go back there again (maybe in 2 weeks) focus on the southern side of Hastings Point. I might look to make a weekend of it. If anyone is interest let me know.
I spotted this shell in a rock pool, I thought it was pretty cool. It is now sliding around with me in my car so this probably isn’t the last time you will see it
Brisbane
Are you tired of Brisbane City? Nah I’m not.
Fingal Heads Sunrise
Not much of a Sunrise
A long busy week saw me crash out hard around 8pm. I had not planned to go out as the forecast was rain and more rain, but “early to bed early to rise”. Wide awake at 4am I decided why not. I opted for somewhere out by the bay so I could catch up with my poppa once done. I decided on Wellington Point as I am still eager to capture a great shot from this area.
As per the weather forecast it was raining, quiet heavily. If I was going to stand any chance I needed an umbrella (ella ella). I made a pit stop at a petrol station, to my surprise they actually sold them. By the time I got there the rain was only intermittent, and it certainly wasn’t going to be anything spectacular…
It was very windy, I tried my luck with my new Vari-ND to have the clouds and waves streaking off to the corners of the photo. Err that didn’t work, a little too ambitious I think seeing as this is the first time I have used it. (OH! btw I ordered some new filters from Singh-ray they were a Vari-ND, Gold-n-Blue Polariser and 4stop Reverse Neutral Density filters. I never got a chance to blog about that.)
Now the Gold-N-Blue polariser this was fun…
Test Shot - Gold Jetty
Test Shot - Blue Jetty
Pretty cool filter, should be great camping next weekend. And now some creative expression
I will be posting some more info about these filters in the coming weeks.
On the way back I stopped off at Poppas. I couldn’t resist grabbing the camera and photographing some of the rain drops around in the garden. This first one is great you can see the reflection of a flower.
The Rainbow Lorikeets were enjoying them selves in the rain.
And I have left the best one for last.. High quality close up.
Brisbane CBD Sunset
Was an interesting sunset this evening, I originally went out to grab an early dinner, but to my suprise there was a storm on the way. I went to kangaroo point (yeah same old place I know)
This photo isn’t a HDR, and it really was like this, the sun was setting on the other side of this rain/myst.
After waiting for the rain to pass I walked down to an overpass on main st. I have been wanting to take some photos from this location for a while. The lightning was great from here, however I failed to capture it successfully. This is the best shot I got…
Archives
I have been trawling through the archives for photos I may have missed…
Fingal Heads
Went back into my archive of photos and revisited the Fingal Heads Sunrise, back in December 2007.
